Our Space

The former Smyth Chapel United Methodist Church was acquired by the Friends of Smyth Chapel, Inc. in 2016.

In 2020, the structure was expanded and restored to open for community use. An addition to the building houses a full kitchen and two handicapped-accessible restrooms.

The building has modern air-conditioning and heating, the doors and windows were repaired, the parking area was expanded and graded, and a new entrance door and handicapped-accessible ramp was installed.

The original floors have been beautifully refinished. The former sanctuary space is completely open and flexible to be used for ceremonies, meetings, receptions, or other events.

Events of all types can be held in Smyth Chapel. The Chapel is for rent for events such as live music, classes, seminars, lectures, birthday and anniversary celebrations, showers, club and group meetings, weddings, life celebrations, study groups, retreats, worship services, and more!

- Are tables and chairs available and how many? There are eleven (11) six foot long folding tables and 65 folding chairs that are provided for indoor use only at the chapel.
- Does Friends of Smyth Chapel provide the set-up for our group? No, your group needs to provide the set-up and breakdown of the tables and chairs. Time to do this needs to be included in your rented time period.
- What about the church pews that are along the walls? The pews provide seating for approximately 30 additional people. For weddings, they can be temporarily set up in the middle of the space with permission from FOSC event coordinator. Care must be taken in moving them and they must be returned to their place along the wall after the event.
- Where do people park for events? There is an improved (gravel) parking lot adjacent to the chapel with space close to the handicapped access ramp. Depending on configuration, approximately ten vehicles can park in this space. Additional parking is available across the road from the chapel in a large, graveled area.
- What is the capacity of the chapel? The maximum capacity is 100 due to the available seating and parking.
- How do we reserve the space and pay the rental fee? A signed contract and a deposit of 50% of the total rental fee is due at the time of reservation and the balance is due 10 days before the event.
- Are there any discounts for members of Friends of Smyth Chapel? There is a 10% discount for sustaining members.
